Optional Excursions

We are delighted to be able to provide optional excursion before and after the Quiz Olympiad.

Pre-Event

Thursday 5 November: Wieliczka Salt Mine

3 hour excursion to the Wieliczka Salt Mine will leave our hotel at 10.00 and will return at 13.00. The mine was excavated from the 13th century, producing table salt continuously until 2007, making it one of the world’s oldest operating salt mines.

Its attractions include the mineshafts and labyrinthine passageways, displays of historic salt-mining technology, an underground lake, four chapels and numerous statues carved by miners out of the rock salt, and more recent sculptures by contemporary artists.

There is an additional charge for this trip.

Post-Event

Monday 9 November: Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial

Full day trip to the largest World War 2 concentration and extermination camp. 2020 is the 75th anniversary of the liberation of this former army barracks that saw the deaths of over 1.1 million mostly Jewish people. This trip is said to be life-changing.

A coach will collect you from the hotel at 10.00 and will return in the early evening.

There is an additional charge for this trip.
